“Off the Wall: Fashions from the German Democratic Republic” is a great little book that celebrates the unexpected fashion delights from the East Germany before the Berlin Wall came down, covering the period from 1964 to 1980.
The book consists entirely of photographs with only a brief introduction that explains how these photographers were commissioned by the government but can only speculate on the reasons behind it. It is a shame that more is not known about the pictures, but the photographs are still worth a browse.
It is available to buy from Red Dot Books for just £3.99.
