More modernist style comes in the form of this Tatty Devine Acoustic Locator brooch. Tatty Devine's fun and retro designs are well known on these pages but this piece comes from a darker place: the acoustic locator was a device used in World War I to detect oncoming planes through funnelling sound. Inspiration for the brooch came through the modernist photographs of Pil and Galia Kollectiv currently on display in Tatty Devine's Brick Lane shop.
Even without knowing its story, the geometric shape and futuristic look of the piece makes it a striking piece of jewellery. The piece is made from four different pieces of acrylic – mirror, glitter, silver and black – to really make it stand out. The brooch costs £39 and it's also available as a necklace for £36.
