In line with the current trend for all things thrifty, the Imperial War Museum have reproduced some of the original government Make Do and Mend leaflets in this attractive looking book.
The advice was originally published in 1943 and, as well as offering a fascinating piece of social history, contains some basic home tips that are as relevant today. Within its 56 pages it tackles things like patching up sweaters, washing silks and that age-old problem of battling moths. For £4.99 it sounds like a pretty safe investment.
