This orbit clock by Block Design offers a colourful way of telling the time. Their blurb actually claims it was inspired by the Bauhaus, but it seems a long way from the functional looks and metal lines I normally associate with that design school and its clocks. Instead the bright colour, circular shape and acrylic material suggest sixties to me. Perhaps their inspiration comes from the Bauhaus aim of bringing art into everyday life: in this clock the hand are cut out of revolving discs, making it a more sculptural, as well as practical, object.
It comes in a vast range of cheery colours including 'canary' pictured and is for sale for £37.66. Whatever era you choose to associate it with, it's an attractive piece of design that's sure to brighten up many a wall.
