We’re guessing Birds Eye did well with the return of its Arctic Roll, as it just released another dessert from the archives: Birds Eye Supermousse.
If you don’t remember it, let’s just say it was very ‘of its time’, a dessert from an era that liked this colourful. Good for you? Probably not, but that’s probably the case for most desserts on the shelves then and now.
The Supermousse was frozen and brightly-coloured, mixing that frozen ‘mousse’ with a sauce of your choice. And in the case of the reissue, that’s strawberry and vanilla or chocolate and caramel, all of which is packed into a 1980s-style pot. Because nostalgia and a retro look always sells.
Did the original pot double up as a novelty mould? I thought it did fomr some reason, but the new one doesn’t seem to. If you can live without that, you can pick up the Birds Eye Supermousse now, costing around £1.49 for four pots.
Update:
Some bad news. Since the original article was written, which was way back in 2009, Birds Eye seems to have discontinued the Supermousse desert once more. I know, a crying shame. But they brouhgt it back once so we can only hope that the maker will bring it back again.
If I hear anything at all, I’ll be thr first on the case.
This is nowt like the original.
