We first saw this in 2009 but since then, details of the stunning Fiat 500 Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari have been scarce. But now we have details of both price and numbers – one big and one small. I think you can guess which is which.
Taking its name from an Abarth-tuned version of the original Fiat 500 produced in the 1960s, the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari (the latter part of the name relating to its Ferrari looks), is limited to just 152 cars, so we're talking supwer exclusive as well as super stylish.
If you get one, you'll have those looks as well as a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that delivers 180 horsepower and 0-62 mph in just seven seconds, with a top speed of 140 mph. There's also an electromechanical gearbox with race-inspired paddle gearshift that drives the front-wheels, 17-inch alloy wheels, souped-up Brembo brakes, sporty suspension, dual-mode exhaust system, sports seats, a Jaeger-designed instrument panel and a fuel consumption of 43.3 mpg.
You can order now via any of Fiat's special network of 17 Abarth dealers, but you'll have to lay out £29,600 to get one.
I’m not keen on red cars. I know red’s traditional here but it just doesn’t do anything for me.
That said, the colour doesn’t make the blindest bit of difference to any car’s performance, so it’s quite a superficial gripe. Aside from anything, I’ll never ever drive any car models that have been Abarthed, so to speak, because I highly doubt I could handle them without screaming in terror. Call me a wimp, but I think I’ll stick with the ordinary 500….
