Not content with capturing the modern-day mod scene with his book I'm One (21st Century Mods), Horst A. Friedrichs has jumped the fence to snap 'the other side' with Or Glory 21st Century Rockers, a new hardback book.
Released next week via Prestel Publishing (but available to pre-order now), the book looks to follow a similar path to the 'Mods' book, snapping those who take inspiration from the original rocker scene in the modern era – tattoos, leather jackets, slicked-back hair, BSA, Triumph, Norton and Royal Enfield motorcycles, not to mention inspiration from the likes of Elvis, James Dean, and Marlon Brando.
Friedrichs has snapped modern-day rockers in parking lots, pubs, cafes, dance and pool halls, as well as at gatherings at Jacks Hill and the Ace Cafe. There's also commentary from Friedrichs' subjects, shedding light on why they still take inspiration from a movement first seen almost 60 years ago.
The book is available to pre-order via Amazon now for £12.99. There's also an exhibition of photos from the book at Lewis Leathers – get in touch with them for details of that.
