For some years, I presumed all the better art deco-styled houses were in the south of Great Britain. But of late, we've found some cracking properties 'up north', including this five-bedroom art deco house in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
It's an incredibly imposing house. Built back in 1937, it nestles into woodland, overlooking the West Yorkshire countryside and its own grounds, with that 1930s exterior looking faithful to the original design. That's not the case inside.
According to the agent, the house has been 'carefully upgraded and improved in recent years', keeping the style of the period outside, but inside looking more like a typical high-end family home. Perhaps a little too clinical for some.
That includes a reception hall, four principal reception rooms, five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a family kitchen with Aga amongst the open-plan living spaces, while a 'guest suite' heads up the rest of the accommodation. Outside, there's an integral double garage, rockeries, terraces, woods and water areas.
None of which comes cheap. You'll need to make an offer in the region of £1,395,000 to secure this place. Lots more images at the agent's website.
