One of the first things we ever wrote about back in 2006 was (and still is) one of our favourite designs – the Ingo Maurer Bulb table lamp. Price, as with most design classics, was the main issue. Not so this new design inspired by that 1960s gem – the Watt table lamp at John Lewis.
It's not a copy, but if you want the look for a fraction of the price. This is certainly it. Yes, it's a glorified bulb, this one standing around 28cm high, with a brushed chrome finish and a red fabric cord. The light comes from an 18w halogen bulb.
An Ingo Maurer original costs well in excess of £900. But you can pick up the Watt table lamp at John Lewis for just £40.
