The car is a 1970s icon, but wasn't exactly blessed with reliability during the original era. All that is changing with the Jensen Interceptor R.
Let's get one thing straight, this is a classic car, not a brand new model. One look at the cars above should tell you that. But it's has been adapted for the modern era. Every 'donor' car is stripped to its shell before being stabilised, remodelled to accommodate the subtle design changes, then being given a General Motors LS3 V8 engine delivers with either a 4-speed automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox.
There's also independent rear suspension that's been developed specifically to fit the 'R', a purpose built exhaust system and uprated suspension on the front wheels, which helps to give the driver 'a unique driving experience'. Finally the AP 6-pot braking system complements the additional engine power with the right control.
Aside from that, everything is original, right down to those period dials. Unfortunately, a car not cheap 'back in the day' still isn't cheap now, with prices starting at a whopping £107,000. Mind you, if you get a pre-1973 car, the Jensen will be tax-exempt. Also, expect a wait, as only a maximum of 18 cars are built each year.
