It might not look much now, but the 1930s art deco Manor Road Garage, East Preston, West Sussex will soon be apartments, with reservations now being taken.
An icon of a bygone age, the Manor Road Garage and its four petrol pumps picked up grade II listing status back in 2007, but was actually given the art deco look around 1934 and continued as a working garage until 1973, before being left to die. Until the developers moved in.
The agents are offering the building as apartments, with an artist's impression now being shown off. The building will retain the Grade II listed facade, refurbished the pumps with their glass domes and many other period features. But beyond that, you'll find both the single and two storey 'luxury' properties with two bedrooms, private terraces, landscaped communal gardens and private parking.
The finished apartments are said to be ready in July, with reservations being taken now. You can contact the agent for a brochure, with the ones online at present starting at £225,000, moving up to £310,000. Ideal if you fancy a mix of old and new, not to mention some quiet seaside living.
