The Beehive Pendant Lamp has been the most popular home lighting product in Alvar Aalto’s Arkek range, but it was not first designed for domestic use.
The lamp, also known as the A331, was created for the University of Jyväskylä in Finland with Aalto’s lamps nearly always part of a larger architectural plan. The lamp’s structure allows the light to be diffused through the elements that join the aluminium sheets. It is available in either plain white or white with brass or chrome rings.
The lamp costs £853 from Nest.
