We’ve featured modern imitations and Aarnio’s Bubble Chair, but this is the original Hanging Egg Chair.
Designed by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel in 1959, it is still made by the original manufacturer Bonacina Pierantonio. The wicker used in the original design reflected the Scandinavian interest in the natural world, but the chair is now available in a man-made fibre making it suitable for outdoor use. It is also now supplied with a steel stand so you don’t have to worry about whether your ceiling is strong enough to support it.
