A lovely British midcentury design on eBay right now, this Robin Day for Hille Model 700 lounge chair.
An early '50s seat, it is said to be based on the 658 lounge chair, which was designed by Day for the Royal Festival Hall in 1951. The Model 700 here has a back and arms made from walnut veneered moulded plywood, supported by a black enamelled steel rod base and finished with vinyl upholstery.
This example is described as being in 'excellent vintage condition' with 'no damage or repairs'. It has recently been refinished as sometime during its life someone painted it gloss black – there are traces of the paint here and there but they are confined to the edges and 'really don't detract in any way'.
If you fancy it, the bidding right now is at £42.
