The PS 2012 Dining Table is part of Ikea’s new design collection that takes inspiration from over 60 years of Ikea design and modern needs.
The designer Jon Karlsson describes the table as being inspired by the teak furniture that was all the rage in the 1950s, but updated by using bamboo instead of teak. Bamboo has the advantage over teak of being better for the environment as it grows quickly, but becomes extremely durable when it is glued together in layers. The table seats between 2 and 4 people and its drop-leaf design makes it ideal for small spaces. It costs £139.
