Fashion’s forward planning normally irritates me but as summer hasn’t really happened this year, Orla Kiely’s Pre-Autumn Winter Collection could prove quite practical.
Whilst recent collections have been inspired by 40s and 50s holiday snaps and Shelley Long’s Olive Oyl, this collection has hints of old-fashioned English school days. Pieces include ditsy print tops, wool pleated skirts and vintage style cardigans. My favourite piece (and annoyingly one of the most expensive) is this pique wool coat with patch pockets, whose a-line silhouette and oversized buttons give it a glamorous 60s look – far more glamorous than anything I ever wore at school.
