The London Underground turned 150 years old in March and somehow we missed the Penguin Underground Line Boxset that was released to celebrate this anniversary.
The series consists of 12 authors providing short works inspired by life in London, with each one relating in someway to a particular Underground line with a spine in the colour associated with the line. Of particular interest is John Lanchester's contribution, representing the District Line, What We Talk About When We Talk About The Tube, which provides a potted history of the tube system. The books are available individually, but are definitely best bought together in this boxset.
The boxset is available from Penguin priced £60.
