Looking for a great overview of twentieth-century women's fashion? This Vintage Fashion & Couture book by Kerry Taylor is definitely worth a look.
Kerry Taylor is an auctioneer, with a specialism in fashion and textiles. This volume draws upon her vast experience as well as some of the fantastic clothes that have passed through her hands. The book focuses on the major names of fashion, starting with Worth and Poiret and covering the likes of Dior, Chanel, Ossie Clark and Yves Saint Laurent. In fact, it goes up to the present day, so you (if funds allow) know which pieces you should be picking up now for future investments.
As well as the clothes themselves, the 224 pages include profiles of style icons from each period, including Lauren Bacall and Catherine Deneuve. There's plenty to inspire and swoon over in this book, even if the majority of these pieces are the kind of thing most fashion lovers can only dream of unearthing.
