We have seen other finishes, including an oak one, but the 1940s George Nelson-designed Vitra Sunburst Clock has been newly-reissued in black ash for 2013.
It's a midcentury classic, a '40s design, but a look that is perhaps more associated with the 1950s and 1960s. Just shows how ahead of the game Nelson actually was. Indeed, this design would still cut it next to any clock design of the modern era.
As you might have guessed, it is constructed from black ash and brass, with a high-end quartz mechanism within, powered by a single AA battery. Sized at 47cm diameter, it sells for £288.
