We're a little worried that this might not be coming to the UK. But in an attempt to put pressure on the company to do the decent thing, we're going to talk up the Fiat 500 1957 Edition.
It's a special edition, one that celebrates 57 years since the car was launched, back in 1957. If you do the maths, you'll know that it means a 2014 launch for the car.
In terms of features, it will offer up 16-inch retro wheels with large centre caps and a wide chromed lip, a vintage Fiat logo and a selection of classic shades (white, green or blue), treated to give a more vintage look. Open the doors and you'll find an ivory finish with premium brown leather seats and detailing and a retro Fiat badge on the steering wheel.
However, it's still very much the modern car inside, with a 1.4-litre MultiAir engine and five-speed manual gearbox, with a six-speed automatic transmission offered as an option. There is also a driver-selectable Sport mode, which 're-maps' the throttle and a modern sound system. We were hoping for an old radio. Sadly, not the case.
That's all the good news. Now the bad. So far, the car has only been confirmed for the US and Canada. We're keeping out fingers crossed for a UK launch, but we're not hopeful.
