Back in 2006 (yes, we really have been doing this for that amount of time) we featured the classic Isokon Penguin Donkey from the 1930s and later, the Penguin Donkey 2 by Ernest Race for Isokon Plus, which was an update in 1963. Now the design has been updated once more, with the Embrace storage unit by John Green.
Ok, not an official 'Donkey', but the Embrace is the outcome of a brief set to design a modern version of the Isokon Penguin Donkey. The result is a piece of furniture comprised of two low modern tables that are then 'embraced' together in order to form a storage unit / magazine rack / occasional table. You can use the tables separately too, operating as a laptop table, a bench or desk for kids. But once back together, it's a lovely midcentury-style addition to the home.
Each unit is signed, stamped and numbered, selling for £285.
