Interesting to see that VW has remade a car it never actually made in the first place. In this case, the Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept.
Let me explain. It is based on the late 1960s Baja Bug, which was a modification of the Beetle, redesigned (not be VW) for off-roading. This concept model is Volkswagen's modern-day tribute to it.
Of course, whether you like it probably depends on your thoughts on the modern-era Beetle, which this is still very much based on. Under the bonnet you'll find a two-litre, four-cylinder engine, while the car itself is slightly larger than the current Beetle. In addition, the car has increased ground clearance, a raised hood, a more sporty front and at the back, a slide-away spoiler with ski and snowboard rack. Plenty of tech inside too, including a large AMOLED display for entertainment and info.
Just a concept right now, with VW probably waiting for reaction before deciding whether to put it on the market. As such, no pricing as yet.
