It isn't cheap, but the Edie dress at Hobbs is certainly timeless.
Saying that, it does transmit a certain era, the early to mid-1960s. If it's an era you favour, it might be one for you. In a shade of blue, it's a shift dress with something of a pinafore shape, with a length to just to the knee and a break just below the waist. There are also 'discreet' pockets too and the option to wear as it is or wear over something in the colder months.
