Almost 60 years after its first appearance, the 1950s Arne Jacobsen Tongue Chair is available once more, courtesy of retailer Heal's.
Originally designed for the Munkegard School in Denmark (in 1955) and later adapted for use as a bar stool for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the chair got a brief reissue for retail back in the 1980s, but not for long. This is the first sight of it since.
Amazing to think of it being so old. Indeed, it looks every bit a contemporary piece its minimalist mix of metal and wood. There are options for the wood and the metal in terms of colours, along with a more expensive leather version for added comfort. But no matter which one you go for, it'll still be looking sharp for many years to come.
Each chair is individually numbered during production and comes with custom packaging and a book telling the story of the seat. Prices start at £495 if you fancy one (or more).
