All too often, these things have been re-covered and made to look new. This 1960s Dansette Conquest record player with legs still has its original covering, as well as the odd mark to show its age.
That's a plus for us. It is an original player in original condition, as it should be. Saying that, the seller has stripped and cleaned the parts within, checked the valve amplifier, fitted a new cartridge and generally tested everything to make sure it works as it should. That's another positive.
A BSR Monarch deck sits within, with three controls on the front of the player and a new bulb fitted for the front Dansette logo. Those legs are of course there, which fit into the original leg plates for a freestanding player.
Best of all? The price is still on the right side of affordable, sitting at £31 right now.
