If you go on eBay, chances are you’ll find vintage designs similar to this one, all commanding very high prices. Thankfully Made is a little more modest with the price of its 1960s-style Opera chandelier.
Yes, this a modernist take on a timeless design, very similar to the ones made in the 1960s, although many of those were in a grey / silver colour for the frame. This one is a darker colour for the metal (matt black), but it still works for us.
it arrives ready assembled and ready to hang (there is around 1 metre of cord for that), with room to fix up to 24 bulbs at a time. So with that in mind, you probably want to pick some energy efficient ones to keep the bill down a bit.
It’s functional and it also looks good in a sculptural kind of way. Definitely a talking point. The light here retails for £199, but there are variations too, including a table light for £55 and a smaller pendant for £149.
