Some time back we flagged up the Mad Men dress course run by Lisa Comfort. Since then, she has produced a first book of crafting ideas, with Sew Over It Vintage also on the racks soon.
Essentially it’s about getting creative, but with a vintage twist obviously. This volume is all about vintage-inspired creations that work in the modern world.
There are 25 projects to pursue, ranging from jewellery, hats, tops, dresses and bags, to cushions, lampshades, placemats and lanterns through to a ‘luxury chair pouffe’. The idea is to offer projects you can produce in an afternoon through to longer-term productions for the more experienced crafter.
All of the projects come with a ‘skill level’ so you know what you are getting yourself into, as well as step-by-step photography and directions. There are also instructions on how to crate your own bodice block, so all the clothing can be made to fit your body shape.
Fancy it? The book is out in June via Ebury Press, however you can pre-order now, with the 160-page hardback book priced at £15.
