The answer to being the envy of all design aficionados at the beach this year surely comes in the form of this Gerrit Rietveld-inspired beach chair by Mal Furniture.
It's a particularly quirky piece of design. Mal Furniture are a Dutch company that specialise in placing icons of the past into new contexts. In this case, they've taken a distinctive Dutch piece of furniture – Rietveld's colourful chair from c.1917 – and made it more beach, rather than gallery, suitable.
This particular version is made from oakwood, and the soft seat is made from water and UV-resistant canvas. And, of course, the chair is available in just one colour combination!
You'll need to watch the ice cream on this design though – it's priced at 499 euros.
