We have been hunting round the internet to see how rare this design actually is. Judging by what we have seen, we think this Angelo Mangiarotti-designed Saffo table light for Artemide is a pretty rare piece.
It doesn’t like the 1966 / 1967 space age design has been reissued, which is usually a good indicator of rarity. You can see why too, as the light would be a tough one to remake with that substantial and eye-catching glass body, which matches up with a metal base.
This example is described as being in ‘excellent original condition’, with ‘no chips or cracks’ and in ‘full working order’. It also comes with a ‘high quality adaptor’ for UK usage, along with its original continental plug.
The seller flags up the design books to have featured it should you wish to do your homework first. As for the price, it certainly doesn’t come cheap at £1,250.
