If we told you that this Luno audio system with built-in drinks cabinet has originally been made for some upmarket household in the mid-1960s, you would probably have happily believed the line. But this is actually an all-new design.
Well, new is pushing it a bit. This is midcentury design all day long. But it is a new piece, one that’s inspired by the excesses of the past.
The Luno EGB2 houses a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon and wireless (AirPlay) connectivity, as well as a two-way speaker system with silk dome tweeter and a 100-watt subwoofer, plus plenty of room for up to 150 records. All wrapped up in a custom made cabinet made of American walnut. But there’s more. This thing also has a pull-out minibar and four gold-rimmed whisky glasses, along with storage for four wine bottles.
It looks great, it probably sounds great and if you are having a party, even better! Is there any downside here? Well, we can guess one, which is price. Each of these units is custom made and when you mix the parts with the labour, you know it isn’t going to be a budget item.
If you want to know for sure, head over the Luno website and ask them for a quote. If it’s out of your range, you can always check out vintage radiograms on eBay.
