Not cheap, but this 1950s Dieter Rams-designed Braun SK4 audio system is vert desirable.
A groundbreaking piece back in the day, with that ‘day’ being 1956. This is industrial-style design for the home, devoid of any ‘fancy’ add-ons. Just a wooden frame with powder-coated sheet metal and functional controls. Hard to imagine that this audio system is now 60 years old.
Amazing how it has survived too. But according to the seller, this is ‘fully restored and serviced’ as well as being in ‘excellent cosmetic condition’. Ok, the radio frequencies aren’t going to match up to your DAB, but this is still a think to show off proudly in your house.
The only blemish mentioned is a ‘small distortion in front of lid’, which is shown in the bottom image here. I guess that’s something you really can’t restore.
Outside of that, all is fine. If you want it, the ‘Buy It Now’ price is £1,200 – or you can make a cheaper offer.
