Now this is something of an oddity. But I can imagine a lot of people wanted to own this reissue of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop 21 album.
It’s a limited editor reissue from Silva Screen on lilac vinyl and with a printed inner sleeve. The original was released on vinyl by BBC Records in 1979 to celebrate 21 years of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop creative output.
You might know a lot of the music without realising it. Of course, the electronic sounds created by the workshop are best known for their appearance in Doctor Who for many years, but that’s not their only output. The BBC opened the workshop in 1958 and over the decades it provided innovative music for a catalogue of shows, as well as influencing artists from The Beatles and Pink Floyd through to Aphex Twin, Orbital and The Chemical Brothers.
If you love electronic music and sci-fi, this is probably a must-have. You can see the full track listing at the Amazon website, which is where you can order one too ahead of release this Friday. It retails for £20.41. Note that it is available as a reissue CD too.
