If there’s one problem with this vintage classic, it’s perhaps that the basic version isn’t exactly bad weather-friendly. Not so this new incarnation, the Clarks Originals Deserts Boots with a Gore-Tex finish.
Yes, a rework of a boot that dates back as far as 1949 and despite some limited edition finishes, has largely remained unchanged over the decades. This version doesn’t change the look too much, but it does add in some weather protection.
That’s down to the Gore-Tex, which matches up with the sand suede upper in order to withstand the elements of autumn and winter, Good news. But there is another change. To add even more protection, the crepe sole has been replace with an EVA / rubber sole.
