There are actually a couple of these on eBay right now, but we have gone this fully restored Mary Quant Designer Mini to feature.
Sadly this is a 1980s Mini rather a 1960s model and as such, the design leans a little towards that era. Not too much though. After all, this is a Mini, a car that changed little in its pre-BMW history.
I think this limited edition range actually dates to 1988, with around 2,000 of these being made. They do pop up for sale in differing states now and again, often either as renovation projects of modified through the years. This one looks pretty much authentic.
According to the seller, this one was picked up in 2011 and restored for his son. In terms of the work, it had a rebuilding of the suspension, some work to the brakes, new wings, A panels and much, much more. There was also a full professional re-spray in June 2013.
So work done, but still ‘a very genuine un-modified car’ complete with the original period sunroof and all those Quant touches, such as the badge, steering wheel, seating and the ‘Designer’ script on the side.
If you want it, you can opt for the ‘Buy It Now’ price of £4,995 or you can put in a cheaper offer. If you want to check out the other (much) cheaper model, details of that are here.
