It doesn’t come with the ‘designer’ name behind it, but this 1970s mushroom lamp on eBay has the look and right now, a very cheap asking price.
According to the seller, the lamp is ‘most likely manufactured in Italy by Prova lighting’. Now if I’m not mistaken, Prova was a brand name for British Home Stores, so this was essentially high street back in the day.
As we said, it does still have the look, not least because of the two acrylic shades – the inner being brown in colour and the outer ‘clear and dark tinted’. When illuminated there is a ‘planet’ effect apparently. The image perhaps gives you a better idea than the words.
The stem and base are made from chrome plated steel, with the bulb holder chrome plated brass and fitted with a normal bayonet fit energy saving bulb. Condition is down as excellent with ‘just a few light marks’ to the outer edge from normal usage. The wiring has been checked as has the inline on/off switch, lamp holder and plug.
Fancy it? Right now it is at £5.50.
