If you don’t like the current BMW-made car and can’t find one you like on eBay, there is now the option of a brand new Classic Mini by David Brown Automotive.
Yes, the car here is new, a limited edition of just 100, each one handmade, which apparently takes around 1,000 hours of work. You would be right in thinking this isn’t a cheap option. But it is a very cool one.
It isn’t an exact copy of the cult classic. The car has been reworked so it offers the look and feel of the original, but with some modern-era comforts and luxury thrown in for good measure.
So you are looking at new panels for that familiar exterior, but an original engine under the bonnet. However, that 1,275cc engine with four-speed gearbox has been reconditioned, retuned and upgraded for added power. the suspension and brakes have been upgraded too.
Once inside you will notice those wonderful seats and the leather on the dashboard, along with a Pioneer touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker sound system and USB connectivity, plus a seriously retro dashboard. You also get Push button start and remote central locking as well.
It’s a dream of a car and if it happens to be your dream too, you will need to find between £75,000 and £100,000. Yes, that is the asking price. If it’s a bit much, you can always pick up a vintage model on eBay for much less.
