Yes it’s an old record. Actually this is a Vintage Vinyl Bluetooth Speaker to be more precise.
The idea is to put ‘a new spin’ on old LPs, taking reclaimed vinyl and turning it into the speaker itself.
This is actually the work of Jeff Davis of Vinylux in conjunction with retailer Uncommon Goods, with Jeff designing the speaker’s bent plywood enclosure and with progressive prototypes, adding in quality internal components to ensure the best acoustic response. That includes a top-of-the-line coaxial speaker driver by a major manufacturer. The end result is a good looking piece of design that’s able to wirelessly play your music collection and be an audiophile upgrade to your usual Bluetooth speaker or smartphone audio output.
If you want one, you need to support it on Kickstarter. A pledge of $175 gets you one of the first speakers and a choice of music genre for the record used on the unit.
