We briefly mentioned this as incoming some years back. But you can now get a reissue of the 1950s Ernest Race-designed Heron Chair.
A classic of its day, the Heron Chair dates back to 1955 and used a steel frame rather than wood due to a shortage of the latter at the time. It was also quite innovative, using latex foam to free it from traditional upholstery techniques such as springing and stuffing, throwing in plenty of comfort in the process.
Amazingly, this midcentury modern gem went out of production in the early 1960s due to a lack of a lack of skills to make it. Thankfully that has now been remedied and the chair is being made to order by Race Furniture in various colours / fabrics, some of which you can see here.
It doesn’t come cheap though. £2,799 is the price.
