The much-loved Soundwagon is no more, but the VW Record Runner is now here to play your records in novel fashion.
The original has been around for a few years, billing itself as the world’s smallest record player before it departed the scene. But now the mini VW van is back to play your record in completely re-engineered form.
Made in Japan (of course) and small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, this hand-built player sits on your vinyl and plays, It’s as simple as that. Of course, the appeal is novelty, but if you are the kind of person who digs in crates for old vinyl in charity and junk shops, it might be useful too.
The new version has an ultra fine pitch adjustment knob, a stylus and cartridge system from Audio Technica, a built-in amplifier and speaker, auto-stop function at the end of the record and battery power (you need 2x AAA batteries). Note that the VW Record Runner is 33rpm only.
Fancy one? Take your pick from two colours, both selling for £75.
