Oh yes, this is a great looking shoe. The Adidas Archive Trimm Star trainers reissue in a bold shade of purple.
This is a Size exclusive, so no point hunting around anywhere else for a pair. Well, perhaps eBay if you don’t get lucky with this particular shoe, but nowhere else beyond that.
The Adidas Trimm Star is an interesting shoe design too, not least how it came about. As you might know, the shoe’s heritage goes back as far as the mid-1970s, taking its name from a German sports initiative introduced by the government to try and get people out of the house and getting healthy. I’ve no idea if that worked, but if there was a pair of shoes like this in it for me, I would have been off the sofa and out of the house in an instant.
Since then, the lightweight training shoe has become a sought-after item and reissues are pretty rare and always popular. Saying that, there was a reissue of the style back in January, but in a more subdued brown.
This time the colour scheme is purple and green, apparently based on a colourway originally found on a Japanese rendition of the Athen, with the purple covering on the entire suede upper and tongue portion, matched with the green leather stripes and heel panel.
Outside of that you get the minimalist shape, gold branding, a gum Eberswalder midsole unit and ghilly loops replacing the standard eyelets, intended to offer a righter fit during physical activity.
So that’s the shoe, now we are down to price and availability. Well, the price is £80 and the shoe will be available from Size? stores and online from 8am on Friday 23rd February. So don’t forget to set the alarm.
