Sadly the Agama coat stand (the freestanding one) is no longer available. But it is good to see the Agama hall stand finally making its debut La Redoute.
I’m saying ‘finally’ because the larger of these two 1950s-style units was actually pictured in the La Redoute range as far back as May last year. But as far as I could see, it wasn’t actually available to buy. Saying that, the other Agama was massively popular, so perhaps the company didn’t need to bring a variation out. Well, that first design is no more, replaced by its bigger brother (or sister).
To be honest, I actually prefer this one and plan on getting one for our hallway. Yes, the design of the freestanding coat stand was perhaps a little quirkier, but the larger hall stand just seems more practical, functional and/or useful. Yes, it still offers those colourful retro ball hooks for your coats, hats and scarves, but it offers more.
Being able to use it against a wall helps, having storage space for shoes also helps and yes, there is also a mirror built into this one. So a three-in-one-design. The black frame is pretty neutral too, which probably helps it fit into most interiors.
It isn’t the cheapest bit of furniture at £259, but thanks to the La Redoute habit of a never-ending offer, it is a lot cheaper in reality. Right now the company has £100 off £250 purchases and above with the code HOME, which brings the price down to £159 right now. Much more palatable.

Smaller designs (i.e. coat hooks) are also available under the same design name. They start from £21.
