I really do love a lot of the new range at Habitat, including the Fenner midcentury modern seating range.
It isn’t an obviously retro range, but there are plenty of interesting retro pieces within it, including the Eye and Face rugs we picked out a couple of weeks back. I might well be revisiting it again soon, but for now I’ll focus on this rather lovely seating range, which is the item (or items) that jumped off the page before anything else.
Take your pick from a two-seater sofa, a three-seater sofa or an armchair, all with fabric finishes. Don’t think you have to choose between the contrasts of either orange and grey, they really are the opposite ends of the spectrum, colour-wise. There are six fabric options, as well as a further six in velvet plus two Italian-made viscose mix cloths. If you want a closer look at any, you can get free fabric swatches of each.
As for the design, this is classic midcentury modern, but perhaps with a softer feel. Angular arms, sloping back, button detailing on back and seat plus some gently tapering legs.
If I was upgrading my sofa right now, I would definitely consider this, although it isn’t a cheaper option. £795 for the armchair, with sofas from £1,200.
