How does the idea of a sports car that looks like a Volkswagen Beetle grab you? If it does, you might be a customer for the upcoming Memminger Roadster 2.7.
This isn’t an official VW release. The Memminger Roadster 2.7 is a custom vehicle, the work of German restoration specialists Memminger and designed for fun rather than family driving.
As you can see, this is a two-seat roadster, with a hint of the Porsche 356 about it, but overall, a much bigger vehicle. It has an all tube-frame with MacPherson struts at the front and trailing arms in the rear, not to mention some pretty hefty wheels and tyres, which are 225-mm wide at the front and 255-mm wide in the back, mounted on 18-inch wheels.
Under the bonnet is a 2.7-litre air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that generates around 210 horsepower. So pretty nippy. Hold on tight if you are thinking about taking this for a test drive with your foot down.
Not that you can just pop to your local car showroom to take one out. The Roadster 2.7 is a custom job, so you will need to commit to buying before driving as far as I can see. The other question that needs answering is the price too, with nothing listed on the maker’s site.
I would guess that it’s a case of needing a hefty bank balance to consider one of these on your drive and in your garage. But if you really can’t live without out one, you can always drop them a line via the site for more details and a possible price.
