When the people at Dorothy aren’t celebrating the Barbican, they are producing other wonderfully quirky art. Like this new post-punk stamp album print.
As you probably worked out, this is a new print celebrating the 40 year-long love affair with post-punk bands. 48 icons of the genre have been selected to feature in these postage stamps, beginning in 1977 with Television’s influential Marquee Moon and taking in the likes of Devo’s 1978 album Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!, Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures, Throbbing Gristle’s 20 Jazz Funk Greats, The Teardrop Explodes’ Kilimanjaro, Echo & The Bunnymen’s Porcupine, Talking Heads’ Remain in Light, Siouxsie and the Banshees’ Juju, The Jesus and Mary Chain’s Psychocandy and The Smiths with Queen is Dead. Many more too. Do pick out your personal favourite.
Each stamp features a graphic inspired by the chosen album (or a track on the album), the date of release, the label it was released on and its running time.
The end result is a 4 colour litho print with silver foil, sized at 80cm x 60cm. £35 gets you one.
