Dating back to 1961 and still looking pretty stylish. This Dansette RG31 record player and radio is on eBay right now.
This was a top of the range model back in the day, with a superior amplifier, two internal speakers for a better sound and of course, the bonus of a radio too. Still a sought after model today too.
Even more so in the case of this particular Dansette, which has been fully restored electrically, mechanically and cosmetically to ‘as new working condition’.
It still has its original red and cream rexine covering, which has been cleaned and ‘colour enhanced’ to an ‘as new’ look. It also comes ready for legs, but note that the legs pictured here are not part of the deal. Easy to pick up a set on eBay though.
The turntable is a BSR UA14 automatic, playing records of any speed and with the option to stack up discs too, while controls on the front control power, tone, bass and a switch for the radio. Yes, that radio, which will play medium wave or long wave.
As for condition, it has been stripped and cleaned inside and out, the deck has a new turntable mat, the valve amplifier has been serviced with any ‘suspect’ components being replaced and new wiring has been fitted for safety.
So condition good and full working. This is great over playing your records and hearing that authentic Dansette sound, but it’s also a great piece of interior design too, not least for a 1960s-inspired room.
