Etsy produces another gem, this time in the form of these vintage caravan birdhouses by One Man One Garage, which are available right now on that very site.
It really is a wonderfully cool birdhouse too and it is against some stuff competition in that sector. Who could forget the midcentury modern birdhouses, the retro house birdhouses by KoolBird or the Case Study birdhouses? But this design is based on a mobile, rather than a permanent home. And a retro home as well.
The design was inspired by a 1974 caravan once owned by the maker and is reproduced in kit form – which means you get the fun of making it when the weather isn’t so great and the thrill of giving your feathered friends a home when finished.
The construction of the birdhouse is ‘fairly simple’. It comes flat packed and you just pop out the pieces and snap them together. No glue required, although you can fix together more securely if you prefer. You can also customise the caravan too, as well as decorate the finished item.
Talking of which, the finished van is said to be ideal for ‘a small bird family’ to start and the little windows are the right size to peak in, whilst allowing the new hatch-lings security. Or you could keep it in you’re home to show off. Your call. But after all of that effort, it wuld be a shame not to share it with the guests in your garden.
