When I think Campus I think suede. But the new Adidas Campus trainers reissue is actually in leather.
But this is still the Campus. The shoe dates back to the 1980s, intended as a rival basketball shoe to the long-running Clyde series from Nike. Whether it made its mark on the hardwood floors of the basketball courts, I’m not sure, not being much of a follower of that sport. But it made its mark elsewhere.
If there was an official trainer of Britpop, it would probably be the Adidas Campus. This was a big deal shoe in the 1990s and for anyone with a nostalgia for that era, it still is. In fact, this gem of a shoe probably has wider appeal, down to its clean and simple design.
This take on the shoe keeps that straightforward design, as well as offering the white leather upper with contrasting three-stripe branding, an OrthoLite textured gum midsole for premium cushioning and a rubber outsole, the latter being a throwback to its time as a basketball shoe.
This is a recent arrival at Size? and is available to buy online. If you want a pair, the Adidas Campus trainers in leather retail for £80.
