This Now Playing vinyl holder and lightbox by James Design is a very eye-catching piece of design. But it’s also quite a useful thing too.
So definitely a winning combination, especially if you love your vinyl or you know someone who does. Yes, quite a nifty gift idea too if you are on the hint for something a little out of the ordinary.
First off, I’m sold on the retro look, which intentionally plays on vintage signage and studio signage. It really wouldn’t look out of place in a 1950s or 1960s audio environment. But there’s a little more to this than meets the eye.
You can opt for the black or an oak finish for the casing, with further options between battery or mains power. Personally I would go battery as I prefer clean lines, but mains might be more practical. Once you have made that decision and got one in your home, just slot in the album, switch on and light up the corner of your room, showing off your record of choice at the same time.
If you get bored of ‘Now Playing’ lighting up, you can pick up an extra slide or two to change the message. Yes, this is a handmade item and as a result, you can either go for a different message altogether or contact the maker / seller to get some spares to vary up the design.
All in all, a lovely and quirky piece of retro interior design. If you want one in your home, it is priced from £60.
