Anyone for a spot of upcycling? That’s part of the appeal of this midcentury record storage cabinet on eBay.
I am guessing (and it is just a guess) that this was a rather dull piece of furniture once. Presumably a rather dull wood finish and legs that didn’t really set the pulse racing.
It was then taken on by Elizabeth Dot Design and given a makeover. According to the description, the unit has been ‘thoroughly sanded and primed’ before being finished in a navy blue. A triangle section was then been added on the front in copper and for a finishing touch, steel hairpin legs in a copper colour replace the original wood.
As for condition, well it has been ‘used and loved’ as any vintage piece would have been, so it has that vintage charm rather than being brand new. Hopefully the photos give a fair impression of it – to my eyes it looks like it has been well cared for.
Also, it is hard to judge just how many records the unit can hold. The picture with the cabinet open shows around 40 or so records, with plenty of capacity spare. The seller points out that the legs can support up to 120kg in weight, so I would say that you could get a good number of discs in here. Room for the record player or indeed anything at all on top too. It comes in at around 84cm wide x 40cm deep x 71.5cm tall.
Eye-catching, different, retro, unusual and perhaps all of those things. If you want this, the record storage cabinet is on eBay right now for £310.
