These tend to be confined to male sizes, but now there is a Fred Perry 1950s tennis bomber jacket for women too.
It is a classic too, so why shouldn’t it be offered for women as well as men? After all, it is a design that cuts both ways.
The jacket dates back to the 1950s and as the name suggests, it was originally designed as a warm up jacket for use on tennis courts back in the day. Has it changed? Not a great deal.
Well, it has a little for this release. Of course, the cut has been tweaked a little and the sizing is for women too, specifically in sizes 8 through to 14. The colour is different too. The current male versions are black and dark blue, whereas the version is here is in a rather eye-catching grey finish with darker detailing.
Those details are pretty much as you would expect too, with this made in England jacket complete with a profile-stitched pocket shaped like a tennis ball, an elasticated waist designed to grip tennis players during their match, and a concealed zip pocket for that all-important locker key. There’s also the Laurel Wreath logo and the tipping for collar and cuff.
Like the men’s version, it doesn’t come cheap, retailing for £200.
